BAD NEWS: Measles are back – So says WHO Report
(What should parents do?)

Today, sciencealert.com published a World Health Organisation (WHO)’s report that measles is coming back to the world. Very sad and chilling facts which make us all look so cheap and some developing countries actually presenting as languishing.

And what are the facts?

Measles, a devastating, highly contagious, potentially deadly (ironically rarely kills) but entirely preventable disease appeared to have been contained several years ago. But No, it is returning to the world.

Measles was declared “eliminated” from the U.S. in 2000, but it’s back in a big way.

Although measles is easily preventable through two doses of a vaccine, the world needs about 95 percent coverage to stop outbreaks from happening. We never went pass 85 percent coverage.

Last year, (2017) the number of reported measles cases spiked by more than 30 percent worldwide.

On the whole, the world has not done enough to improve vaccination coverage.

In 2017, WHO’s new report found five out of all six WHO regions in the world experienced an upsurge in measles outbreaks,

The report says watching measles make a global comeback is kind of like watching a character in a horror film make dumb decisions in slow motion.

And who takes the flack?
