Darling Olufunmilayo,
Every minute of the past 40 years, you and your brother have been a bundle of joy to our family.
Watching you grow up has been such fun, and we knew all along that you would grow to be the great, caring woman that you are today. May your birthday be just as spectacular as you have been.
Daddy has chosen to spend the early hours of today to recall some of the beautiful experiences that it has pleased God Almighty to use you in bringing to our lifes.
Among these, the following spot episodes stand out:
Circa 30 monhs (PortHarcourt)
“Daddy, Opin yur mout” (Translation: an order to daddy to open his mouth so that Funmilayo could drop something (chocolate) into it)
Circa 36 months (PortHarcourt)
“I am twee” ( Translation: I am three years old)
Circa 48 months (Kaduna)
“Daddy am i a yowoba girl?” ( Translation: Daddy am I a Yoruba girl? Somebody had referred to her as a yoruba girl in school, in Kaduna).
“Yes you are a Yoruba girl my darling”.
“Why am I a Yowoba girl?”
You are a Yoruba girl because your parents, mummy and I, are Yorubas.
The person who said you are a Yoruba girl is correct”.
Circa 72 months (Lagos)
“Daddy, our teacher said ‘wa jeun’ means ‘come and eat’. But daddy, if “wa” is “come” and “jeun” is “eat”, where is ‘and’? Should “come and eat” not be “wa ati jeun”?
These are wonderful mannerisms that made you stand out and filled us with immeasurable joy all the way.
Our darling daughter, you’ve done so much in life in passionate care for humanity and we are nothing but proud of the woman you’ve become. May your years be filled with continued success and never-ending love.
