Racism must really be an ugly thing.
I have never asked myself in all the over 50 years that i have associated with the (jazz) music of Bob James whether he, BJ, is white or black.
He is just reminding me about that subject now in this clip (above) and i can see huge pains in him having to ever draw the line. “Black Lives shaped my Live” he says…..“they could have pressed their knee into my neck, but they did not”
Music itself is a language and something tells me a racist must necessarily be deaf, at least to music if not totally deaf.
I wish i had a living example to justify this.
Is it even imaginable to ask if or whether the great minds of both Bob James and Earl Klugh in their legendary ONE ON ONE are black, white, blue or red?
