NIGERIA’S NATIONAL ANTHEM(s)

January 23, 2018

I’m just wondering if we are all paying attention to the manner our National Anthem is being rendered in various musical versions. I thought a Nation’s anthem, its style and lyrics, is an identity which is firm, fixed and incontestable.

Please attend a few cream of society events and you would think our Anthem is still undergoing construction by contestants on which version is to be adopted, a few of the solo-singers talking through their noses as if they are foreigners.

I hope Mr Lai Mohammed is not too busy with cattle, violence and murder issues to listen.

Thank God our National Assembly uses the correct version. I was there yesterday and it was played to my delight.
