HIVE WANTS TO PRINT by WEARING iGLASS
That tells the story of what the three winners of the PAADC (Professor Ayodele Awojobi Design Competition) set out to do in the virtual community of solution provision.
Among five finalists, University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University and Ahmadu Bello University won the competition in that order.
The organisers who, truth be told, put up a good account of a fine plan said the winners would go away N1m, N800,000 and N700,000 for the first second and third place winners.

An elite African Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Society that leverages the skills of adequately talented university students to build a society of incredibly adept engineers that are ready to contribute innovatively and dynamically to the advancement of the rapidly evolving fields of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. Hive creates an enabling environment for University students to co-work, co-learn and co-build so that when they invade the global work space. They actively generate financial resources by building and selling kits and educational materials (particularly for STEM) to eliminate the need to import these kits and pay heavy shipping fees.
“TEAM WANTOPRINT” from Ile-Ife
Is an online platform that fast- tracks the process of printing whilst also securing storage devices; The goal is to print your documents without any form of stress with a simple process of sending your document and wait for it to be delivered or opt for pick up. Wantoprint is already on two campuses in Nigeria with goals of expansion into all campuses within and outside the nation.
“TEAM iGLASS” from Zaria is presented as:
iGlass is a low budget wearable device designed to help blind and visually impaired individuals to create a perception of vision from the sounds they hear. iGlass helps them visualize the world into words using text extraction to enable users read text with ease from books, magazines, newspaper, signboards etc. Their device can assess the internet and websites, extract any information as specified by the user into plain words. iGlass can be controlled by the uses using voice commands which is usually very friendly.
Dayo Aruwajoye, the organisers’ Team Lead, told me winners at the Competition would begin to receive their credits and planned supports from tomorrow.
PAADC, now in its third edition, is an initiative of the University of Lagos Engineering Society.
The project was sponsored by Lagos State Government, Verraki Business Solutions, GasInvest Limited, Kawai Technologies, Verod Foundation, Lagos Innovates (LSETF), and Wema Bank while its Partners are SemiColon Africa, Nigerian Bottling Company, HubOne, Primero Transport Services Limited, MTN, Friesland Campina, and SeamFix, Ventured Platforms, Nigerian Info FM, and Techpoint.
