The Unilag Faculty of Engineering Alumni Association, UNILAGFEAA, went into another phase of infrastructural development in the faculty by handing over a section of the complex to a building contractor last Monday.
Sobak Nigeria Ltd has been contracted to provide vertical extensions to the mechanical and civil engineering departments. This particular phase of the project in which about N56m is being invested is aimed to provide more space for use of lecturers as offices, classrooms for students, and spaces for recreation.
Alumni Chairman, Engr Dideolu Falobi while handing the buildings over to Sobak Ltd expressed confidence that judging by the evaluated proposal of the handling company and going by its track record, the project would be delivered on time.
The project was conceived and designed by lecturers of the faculty and members of the Alumni Association and Sobak is a company owned by a 1988 alumnus, Engr Sola Akerele, who pledged to complete the project in twelve weeks.
The short handover ceremony was witnessed by the Dean of Engineering, Prof Obanishola Sadiq, Immediate Past Dean Prof Funso Falade, Chairman Lagos Branch of Nigerian Society of Engineers and Chairman of this project’s implementation Committee, Engr Ayo Ogunnoiki, Secretary of the Association, Dr. Lawrence Osoba, other Members of the Executive Committee and special projects’ implementation committee, faculty staff and representatives of Unilag Alumni Association.
